Sports Career – Kabaddi Legend
Jaswant Singh, popularly known as Pappu Gakhal, emerged from a small village in Jalandhar to make a mark in Kabaddi, one of Punjab’s most beloved traditional sports.
He competed at national and international levels, representing the sport with distinction and becoming one of the bigger names in the Kabaddi world from his region. His athleticism and leadership on the mat earned him widespread admiration among players and fans alike.
Social media profiles and posts about him often highlight his connection to Kabaddi and his reputation as an experienced former international player.
Social Work & Community Service
After his active sports career, Jaswant Singh shifted focus to social work and community support, playing an active role in upliftment activities in Jalandhar and surrounding areas.

Entering Politics – 2027 MLA Election
Continuing his journey of serving the people, Jaswant Singh Pappu Gakhal entered politics in 1997 and is now preparing to participate in the upcoming 2027 Punjab Legislative Assembly election from the Jalandhar Cantt constituency. (a seat that’s part of the state assembly process ahead of the 2027 polls).
His campaign focuses on bringing grassroots development, youth opportunities, and sports infrastructure forward — drawing on his background in sports and social leadership.
With his lifelong connection to the community and sports achievements, he’s positioned as a civic leader who understands local culture and aspirations.
